This is Ennerdale Water, and I have no idea why there is a rail going into it. Looks nice, though…
Something About English Dog Poop
I’m not sure why, but the English really like their dog poop signs. Here are three good ones.
Melissa and Shakespeare
Well, sort of. This is Melissa having a nice chat with Lego Shakespeare.
London Tourism on an Actual Good Day
It is occasionally sunny in London. We took the opportunity to check out the London Eye (basically a very big Ferris wheel).
My First Science Fiction Novel!
After writing 300+ business courses, it was time to do a science fiction novel - in which there are lots of auditors and forensic accountants. Available in paperback and on Kindle. Here is the link.
A Rather Territorial Tree
This is a giant ficus tree in the Osa National Park, Cost Rica.
A Wee Spot of Rain
Your basic rainstorm in the middle of the Costa Rican dry season. There’s actually a view beyond the pool, but it’s completely obscured by the rain.
Dual Purpose Airport
The Arenal Airport in Costa Rica runs flight services - and a disco. You can see the disco ball up and to the right of Melissa’s head, the band speakers are on the left, and the bar is in the back. And yes, this is the entire airport.
Not Impressed
Yes, that is a sloth, and that is all it does - imitate a dirty carpet.
Zip Lining Through Clouds
We went zip lining near the Arenal Volcano in Cost Rica. Very cool, especially when ripping through clouds with no visibility.
The Dreaded Lake Arenal Crossing
To get from the Costa Rica coast to the Arenal volcano area, one of the routes involves a boat crossing of Lake Arenal. There is no pier - you just stand around in the mud and wait for the next boat.
Now That's a Big Tree
Given all the rain and sun, trees can be on the Paul Bunyan side of things in Costa Rica. Here is a good example.
Rather Large Agouti
This is the largest agouti we saw in Costa Rica. Note its metallic sheen from eating a high-quality diet (appears to be a hot dog).
Nothing Like a Hanging Bridge
Here is a view from one of the many hanging bridges in the Monteverde cloud forest. Some of these bridges are bouncier than others.
Hungry Monkey
This Panamanian white-faced monkey was sitting in a tree just uphill from our hotel in Costa Rica, gorging itself.
Quetzal in the Cloud Forest
This is a female Quetzal, which is a bit of a rare find in the Costa Rican cloud forest. The unusual thing about this photo is how it was taken - on an iPhone, through a spotting scope.
That's a Big One
Either Melissa is very small, or the tree is very big. Costa Rican cloud forest.
Brooms Only, Please!
This was a wall decoration on the side of a gastropub in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The View from Kicking Horse
The Kicking Horse ski resort in British Columbia can have lots of low-visibility days, but this was not one of them. Quite spectacular.
Raining at Revelstoke
Yep, that’s a rain cloud. And yes, we got rained on - hard - while skiing the lower portions of Revelstoke, British Columbia.
